Introducing Cleveland Chiropractor, Dr. Timothy deRoos, DC
“Be careful what you say, you never know who may be listening!”
What we say can be perceived as encouragement to one but to another completely the opposite of what we intended to convey. Such was the case, as I was growing up in Upstate New York. We would ride by a Chiropractor’s office on the way to and from town. My siblings and I would frequently ask our mother what that funny word on the sign meant; she would usually dismiss our question by responding that they are just quack doctors.
I don’t believe my mother initially meant to derail his creditability in particular; she was merely carrying on what she had heard growing up as well. Dr. BJ Palmer, the Developer of Chiropractic, said “We never know how far reaching something we may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.” Fortunately for myself, my family and my patients that was one of my mother’s opinions I didn’t take to heart.
I was introduced to Chiropractic on the way to my brother’s wedding. One of his groomsmen drove with me to the rehearsal and shared his story and his passion for Chiropractic. I always had an affinity for human anatomy and physiology having just graduated myself from SUNY Binghamton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I hungered to study the human aspects for a change since they were not classes that I was able to apply toward my Biology degree. The timing seemed perfect to explore the possibility of a career in Chiropractic since I had no idea what to do with my degree.
It was one year later that I entered the Doctor of Chiropractic program at the recently relocated New York Chiropractic College campus in Seneca Falls, NY. During my four years at NYCC, courses included Biochemistry, Neurology, a strong emphasis on human anatomy and physiology, Xray technique and diagnosis, differential diagnosis, Chiropractic adjusting techniques and outpatient care at the internship level located in the Syracuse Health Center. Upon graduating in 1995, I relocated to southeast Tennessee eager to establish my practice.
Over the past 13 years, I been able to grow and keep current with the ever changing healthcare needs of my community. I remain fresh in my technique and approach to wholeness of life by practicing what I preach. I have discovered this may not be the case with everyone that holds a leadership position in healthcare today. If I’m not living it, how can I possibly expect my patients to follow my recommendations! Although, my expectations for results are very high, many patients remain eager to meet the challenge.
I have been married for nine GLORIOUS years (inside joke) to my beautiful wife Kim. We have one daughter, Natalie and two spoiled rotten miniature schnauzers. We love serving our Lord Jesus Christ and acknowledge HIS hand over every aspect of our lives. We ALL enjoy kayaking, biking and taking full advantage of the many outdoor activities in this picturesque area of east Tennessee. We are active members of First Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN and involved with Cleveland Emmaus.
Recently, I have redirected my focus on a serious dilemma facing our fair country today, the obesity "epidemic". Not a disease, as many would have the public believe, but a result or effect of poorly managed lifestyle and nutritional choices. My family gets checked every week or two for optimal nerve function and bodily communication. I exercise every other day to make sure my tissues have ample time to recover. We have converted to whole food cooking and incorporated as many raw fruits and vegetables as possible into our meals.
I have come to realize that our Creator has had the answers to our problems all the while, I redirect my patients and many protocols back to HIS design!
After reading this far into my site, the next step is to call the office and schedule an appointment to speak with me about your concerns and needs, especially if you have been recently injured or are looking for a fresh and new approach to natural healthcare. I promise to guide you based on your individual state of well being, recommending what you need to benefit to your maximum potential, by design! Thanks for visiting our site. I look forward to meeting you in person.
